Michelle Dockery is mourning the loss of her finace, John Dineen, who died Sunday at 34 years old.
"The family is very grateful for the support and kindness they have received but would kindly request that they are left to grieve in private," the actress' rep said in a statement.
Dineen, a public relations professional, had been battling cancer. The "Downton Abbey" actress was at his bedside at the Marymount Hospice in Cork, Ireland, when he died, ITV reports.
Dockery, also 34, started dating Dineen in 2013 after being introduced by fellow "Downton Abbey" star Allen Leech, who plays Tom Branson in the hit drama.
Dineen was a corporate public relations executive. His funeral is set for Wednesday.
Dockery will appear in the final season of "Downton Abbey," which premieres Jan. 3 in the United States. She plays Lady Mary Crawley on the critically-acclaimed show. During season 3, Lady Mary's husband, Matthew Crawley (played by Dan Stevens), dies in a car accident.
