Michael Lewis looks at era of easy credit in new book
Author Michael Lewis has turned his gimlet eye on debtor nations in his new book "Boomerang: Travels in the New Third World" which is being published today.
In the book, Lewis, who also wrote the bestselling "The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine," looks at countries like Greece, Iceland and Ireland which, for different reasons, went wild with cheap credit.
It is based on a series of articles he wrote for Vanity Fair and some critics say it can be considered a companion piece to the 2010 "The Big Short" about the financial crisis.
The New Orleans-born author earned a degree at the London School of Economics and worked at Salomon Brothers before he became a financial journalist and writer.
Lewis is also known for his books on sports, two of which - "Moneyball" and "The Blind Side" - have been turned into films.
