The eldest son of the Oscar-winning actor was sentenced to five years in prison last year for dealing methamphetamine from a high-end Manhattan hotel.
Prosecutors could call him to the stand under a cooperation agreement requiring him to testify against one of his alleged suppliers.
Jury selection is set to begin on Monday.
Cameron is Michael Douglas' only son with ex-wife Diandra Douglas. He has another son and a daughter from his marriage to Catherine Zeta-Jones.
