Mich. woman set house on fire over bad tattoo job, say police
(CBS/WWJ) PONTIAC - Police say a Michigan woman was arrested on arson charges after she allegedly set a house on fire in anger over a botched tattoo job.
According to CBS Detroit, Oakland County police say 32-year-old Starr Burgess and multiple others were drinking heavily early Tuesday morning in Pontiac, about 30 miles northwest of Detroit, where Burgess was having a tattoo applied. The tattoo artist reportedly fell asleep or passed out during the application.
CBS Detroit reports police say Starr left with friends, but returned a short time later to demand her money back. An argument ensued at which time Starr stated, according to witnesses, that she was "going to blow up the house and burn this bitch down."
There were reportedly seven people in the home at the time of the fire, including several children, but no injuries were reported. Two residents told deputies they awoke to the smell of gasoline.
According to CBS Detroit, witnesses who ran out of the house say they saw Starr running to a car and reportedly heard her yell, "I told you I was going to burn the bitch down."
Burgess' bond was reportedly set at $25,000. She's expected back in court June 26 and could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
