Mich. boys, 8 and 10, used toy gun to steal candy, chips, say cops

(CBS DETROIT) WARREN, Mich. - Police in the Detroit suburb of Warren, Mich. say two boys used a toy gun to steal candy and chips from five of their elementary school classmates.

The young suspects, ages 8 and 10, could be charged with armed robbery because one of them thought the gun was real, according to CBS Detroit.

For now, the two boys have each been given 10-day suspensions from school, the station reported.

School officials planned to meet with the boys and their parents to decide if they will be allowed to return to class.

The Detroit News says police were making arrangements to have the suspects brought in to be questioned.

The five alleged victims were walking home last week from Lincoln Elementary School when one of the boys pulled the plastic gun on them.
