Miami police seek "doctor" who allegedly gave fatal butt-enhancement injection

(CBS) MIAMI, Fla. - Police in Miami are trying to determine the identity of a man who posed as a doctor from Venezuela and allegedly administered butt-enhancement injections to a 28-year-old woman who died hours after the April procedure, CBS Miami reports.

Cuerpos Health and Aesthetics LLC, a south Florida beauty clinic, is under criminal investigation for manslaughter and practicing medicine without a license after one of their patients, Suyima Torres, is believed to have died as a result of surgery she received there.

According to court documents obtained by CBS Miami, Ruth Planas, the owner of the clinic, has refused to provide any information on the Venezuelan doctor who allegedly performed the fatal surgery.

The unidentified doctor is believed to have left the country, according to the station.

Police have seized medical records, medications and computers from the clinic, the station reports. No charges have been filed in the case and owner Ruth Planas is not accused of any wrong doing by authorities, according to the station.

Court documents say Torres paid $2,300 in cash for buttocks-enhancing injections. The second round of injections was reportedly administered by the unidentified doctor on April 11, 2013.

Almost 10 hours after the injections, Torres was pronounced dead at Doctor's Hospital in Coral Gables, according to documents obtained by the station.

The death is reportedly being investigated as a case of manslaughter connected to the unlicensed practice of medicine.
