(CBS/AP) VERACRUZ, Mexico - A journalist, his wife, and their 21-year-old son were shot to death Monday in their home in the Gulf coast city of Veracruz, Mexican authorities said.

Miguel Angel Lopez Velasco, 55, and his son, Misael Lopez, both worked for the daily newspaper Notiver, Velasco as editorial director and column writer and Lopez as a photographer.

Veracruz state prosecutor Jorge Yunis says investigators haven't determined a motive in the killings and no one has been arrested.

Velasco isn't the first journalist slain this month.

Earlier this June, state police in Veracruz reportedly found the body of a reporter named Noel Lopez in a clandestine grave. The journalist, who worked for the weekly publications Horizonte and Noticias de Acayucan as well as the daily newspaper La Verdad, had been missing since March.

Lopez died from a blow to the head, according to police. The body was discovered after a man arrested for the killings of several police officers confessed to the murder.

According to press freedom groups Mexico is the most dangerous country in the Americas for journalists.

Mexico's National Commission on Human Rights said on Monday that 70 journalists have been killed since 2000. In addition, it said 13 have disappeared.
