ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- A cast member of the VH1 reality show "Love & Hip Hop" has been sentenced in upstate New York to eight years in prison for drug trafficking.
At his federal court sentencing Tuesday, Mendeecees Harris also agreed to forfeit the $171,000 he's made from the television show, along with a 2011 Audi R8 sports car worth $111,000.
Harris pleaded guilty in April to conspiracy to distribute and possess heroin and cocaine. Prosecutors say the 37-year-old was involved in drug trafficking from 2005 until 2012.
The sentence was the lowest possible term under a plea agreement that included a maximum sentence of just over 10 years. Harris' attorney, Donald Thompson, says the judge recognized the work Harris has been doing since his arrest to deter young people from drug trafficking.
