McGreevey A No-Show At 'Letterman'
Former New Jersey Gov. Jim McGreevey was scheduled to read the Top Ten list on CBS' "Late Show With David Letterman" Thursday night, but he was a no-show.
During the broadcast, Letterman explained that "we had invited the governor to be here, he said he would be here, we were all very excited that he was going to be here and then he stopped calling. They just stopped calling. They left us numbers that were unplugged, we couldn't get a hold of him. He said, 'Oh, no, we're coming, don't worry, we're coming,' and that's the last we heard of him … I hope he's OK."
McGreevey stepped down in November 2004 after he admitted to having a homosexual affair with his male staffer, Golan Cipel, who he hired to head the state's Homeland Security department in 2002.
McGreevey's memoir, "The Confession," chronicles the scandal and was released on Sept. 19.
The list was named "Chapter Titles in Jim McGreevey's Book" and was read by former Letterman writer and staff member Gerard Mulligan who filled in for McGreevey on stage Thursday. The Top Ten list:
