Lecaj claims that on Aug. 5, 2010, she was injured after she bit into and chewed a large shard of glass that was unknowingly contained within a spicy McChicken sandwich, which she was eating at the McDonald's in Oak Lawn, according to a lawsuit filed in Cook County Circuit Court, reports CBS station WBBM.

The suit claims that the restaurant failed to properly inspect and maintain the processing and cooking equipment as well as the sandwich to avoid injury.

Lecaj sustained severe and permanent oral injuries as well as great pain and anguish, according to the suit.

The 12-count suit claims product liability and negligence and seeks more than $600,000 in damages. The suit names the McDonald's restaurant in Oak Lawn, McDonald's Corporation, McDonald's USA, LLC., and JDD Investment Company.

The general manager of the McDonald's restaurant in Oak Lawn said she did not have a comment regarding the lawsuit.

Representatives of the Oak Brook-based McDonald's Corporation and the JDD Investment Company were not immediately available for comment.
