McConnell Says GOP Will Fill Committee Seats After Wyoming Appointment, Ethics Committee To Act Soon

"Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell made the following statement Friday regarding the reassignment of Sen. Craig Thomas’ committee assignments:

'Once the new Senator from Wyoming is seated, we will start the process of assigning open seats on committees. No decisions will be made until that time.'

The open seat on the Ethics Committee was filled Wednesday by Sen. Johnny Isakson, and the selection was endorsed by the Senate through a unanimous passage of S. Res. 233. There is pending business before the committee this week requiring full membership; the vacancy needed to be filled before proceeding."
