McConnell: Pakistani Elections Must Go Forward As Planned
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said Pakistan's elections must move forward as planned, despite the murder of former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.
“Benazir Bhutto's bravery stands in stark contrast to the cowardice of those who remain committed only to chaos, murder and thwarting democracy in Pakistan," said McConnell in a statement issued by his office.
“It is our expectation that President Musharraf and the Pakistani people will go forward with free and fair elections.”
