McCain's Super Bowl Party

(CBS)
From CBS News' Dante Higgins:

BOSTON -- John McCain invaded Mitt Romney's home turf Sunday and took in the Super Bowl with family, staff, supporters and the press.

Joined by former Gov. Paul Cellucci, R-Mass.; Sen. Joe Lieberman, I-Conn.; Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C.; and former Sen. Phil Gramm, R-Tex., McCain headed to the Hyatt Hotel after a campaign event and made it to the bar for the first quarter of the game.

Barbecue chicken pizza, spicy nuts, miniature burgers and chocolate chip cookies were served as well as a variety of alcoholic beverages. McCain drank water.

McCain got up from his seat on the couch and spoke to reporters during a couple of the commercial breaks. But when the game resumed, he made his way back to the couch as it was too hard to pay attention to the game and make the rounds with small talk.

His wife Cindy eventually came down to the bar area and sat with her husband and his gang. His mother Roberta McCain also made her way through the bar to say hello.

"Hey, sonny boy," she said to McCain as she leaned over the back of the couch to greet him and his buddies.

At the end of the third quarter McCain stood up and said goodnight to the handful of press that stuck around. All of his buddies and staffers were still in the bar and held out to see New York beat his rival Romney's hometown New England Patriots.
