McCain Promises Debate Win, More Intense Campaigning

(CBS)

From CBS News' John Bentley:

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – After being criticized by some inside the Republican Party for his light campaign schedule and not being aggressive enough towards Barack Obama, McCain assured volunteers at his campaign headquarters today that he will be ratcheting up the intensity this week.

"After I whip his you-know-what in this debate, we're going to be going out 24/7," McCain said, but emphasized he would be whipping Obama's you-know-what in the most considerate way possible. "I want to emphasize again, I respect Sen. Obama. We will conduct a respectful race and we will make sure that everybody else does, too, and that's important, but there are stark differences between us. The difference between big and small government, between cutting taxes and raising them, and certainly a big difference on who is most prepared to be commander-in-chief."
