Matt Fortese, Yankees fan, in critical condition after being attacked at Orioles game

(CBS) BALTIMORE--After police say he was sucker punched by two Orioles fans at Baltimore's Camden Yards, Yankees fan Matthew Fortese remains hospitalized and in critical condition with a fractured skull, according to CBS affiliate WJZ.

Police said the suspects, 21-year-old Michael Bell and 22-year-old Gregory Fleischman, were arrested last Wednesday after the confrontation, which took place at the Orioles-Nationals game, reports the station. Some witnesses said the suspects were taunting the victim, 25, because he was wearing Yankees apparel.

"We had a group of young men throw a beer and when they threw that beer, it ended up hitting another individual," according to Anthony Guglielmi of the Baltimore City police.

WJZ reports that when Fortese confronted the men who threw the beverage, the suspects allegedly struck him, causing him to fall over the concrete barrier and hit his head.

The aftermath of the fight was caught on a cell phone video.

A witness, according to the video recording, recalled seeing one of the suspects spit on the victim as he lay on the ground.

According to WJZ, Fortese is being treated at the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center.

Police said Fleischman was charged with first and second-degree assault, and Bell was charged with second-degree assault, reports the station. Both men were also charged with disorderly conduct and held on $250,000 bond.

The Orioles spokesperson has not commented on the incident, said the WJZ.
