Martin Montano, N.M. man, throws mother off bridge, report says

(CBS) ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.-- Authorities say Martin Montano, a New Mexico man, beat up two people and threw one of the victims from a bridge into the Rio Grande Tuesday morning, reported CBS affiliate KRQE.

The station also said that one of the victims was the suspect's mother, according to police.

Montano's neighbors called 911 to report the crime when they heard screams and saw a person putting bodies into the trunk of a car, police told KRQE.

The station said that when police investigated the alleged incident, they found a woman in the river and a badly beaten man on the bridge over the river.

Authorities said that Montano may have been suffering from mental health issues when he committed the crime, reported KRQE.

The suspect is in jail and the two victims are hospitalized, according to the station.
