NEW YORK (CBS) "Glee" crooner Mark Salling has quite the chops for belting out numbers, but he could daylight as pretty cool surfer dude, too. Just ask GQ magazine.

Salling, 27, gets all surfed-up in its June issue as he models old and new beach fashions in the sands of Laguna Beach, Calif.

The usually mohwawked actor, who plays high school hellraiser Puck on FOX's "Glee," opens up about his Hollywood-by-way-of-Dallas days before joining the show, admitting that the peppy, upbeat 'tween pop of the series wasn't exactly in line with his guitar-twanging origins.

When asked whether he would sing any of his original numbers when the "Glee" cast goes on tour this summer, Salling laughingly says, "I think FOX would probably s--- a brick over that."

After all, there is an mage to keep up when your show is garnering a performing-before-the-Obamas-in-the-White-House kind of buzz. And that's something to sing about.

The article and its beach-inspired pictorial can be found at GQ Magazine.
