Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban left the Rose Garden in Portland, Ore., Thursday night with a little more than egg on his face after teasing Trail Blazers fans and then watching his Mavs lose a playoff game.

Cuban told reporters after the game that he was struck by an object from the stands.

"Somebody hit me in the face,'' Cuban told The Dallas Morning News. "Somebody threw something and it hit me.''

The News reports it happened with 6:56 left in the game.

ESPNDallas.com reports that Cuban, known to interact with fans, teased Blazers boosters sitting behind him by cupping his hand around his ear as they booed him.

The Dallas owner wasn't injured and afterward praised Rose Garden security assigned to the area around the Mavericks' bench, where Cuban was sitting.

Dallas went on to lose to the Trail Blazers 92-97 with its first-round lead cut to 2-1.
