Mariners Sign Catcher

Seattle catcher Dan Wilson, who had been eligible for free agency, agreed Wednesday to a $12.9 million, three-year contract with the Mariners.

Wilson, 30, hit .266 last season with seven home runs and 38 RBIs in 123 games and made $3.5 million.

He gets a $600,000 signing bonus and yearly salaries of $3.8 million, $4.2 million and $4.3 million.

Wilson was an AL All-Star in 1996, when he hit .285 with 18 home runs and 83 RBIs. He was acquired by the Mariners in 1993 with reliever Bobby Ayala from Cincinnati for Bret Boone and Erik Hanson.
