Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon's twins arrive on their anniversary
(CBS) Nick Cannon will have a hard time topping the anniversary gift wife Mariah Carey gave him this year.
The singer gave birth to twins - a boy and a girl - on Saturday, the couple's third wedding anniversary.
"My wife just gave me the most incredible anniversary gift ever in life!" he tweeted on Saturday, hours after the babies were born. "I won't ever be able to top this!"
The births didn't interrupt the couple's tradition of renewing their wedding vows every year - Cannon tweeted on Sunday that he and Carey "just had a wedding in the hospital."
The ceremony was presided over by the Rev. Al Sharpton, who tweeted that Carey looked "great" and the babies are beautiful.
Carey's representative, Cindi Berger, confirmed the twins' arrivals to The Associated Press. The baby girl was born first, weighing 5 pounds, 3 ounces, and was 18 inches tall; her brother was next, at 5 pounds 6 ounces, and was 19 inches.
The couple has not named the children yet, Berger said Saturday.
When asked if the birth was planned to coincide with the anniversary, Berger told People magazine, "No, not even Mariah could plan that."
