Maria Cepparo, N.Y. woman, left 4 kids in car while drinking inside bar, police say
(CBS/AP) BAY SHORE, N.Y. - Maria Cepparo, a 40-year-old mother from Bay Shore N.Y, has been arrested for allegedly leaving her four children unattended in the car while she inside a bar drinking.
According to 1010 WINS, a bar manager noticed that the woman ordered french fries to go. She left and then came back inside the bar. When the manager went outside and found the car with the children inside, she immediately called the police.
Cepparo was charged with endangering the welfare of a child after the incident early Sunday at a Long Island Bar.
Police say the children included a 13-year-old autistic son, another son who is 8-years-old and two 6-year-old twin daughters. They were all inside the unlocked vehicle parked illegally in a fire zone, reports 1010 WINS.
Cepparo was awaiting arraignment on Sunday. The children are now in the care of their grandmother.
