Manhunt In KC For Drive-by Shooter

Two women were killed and another was wounded Friday by shots that were randomly fired into their cars from another vehicle, police said.

Kansas City police said two of the women were struck while sitting in the front seat of one car. Soon after, a woman riding in another car on the same road was shot and killed.

Witnesses said the shots all came from a small red car, which matches the description of a vehicle that was carjacked earlier Friday. Police are investigating whether the same car was also involved in shots fired at a home. No one was injured.

Shortly after the shootings, police found a red Ford Escort smashed into two parked cars. Witnesses said they heard a gunshot shortly before the wreck and saw the driver flee on foot.

One of the dead victims was identified as Raevena McClenton, 27, of Kansas City. The other two victims were not identified pending notification of their families.

Poliuce said a man driving a small red car shot into a vehicle with three occupants. McClenton was struck in the head while sitting in the front passenger seat, and a bullet hit the driver in the face. The driver was recovering in an area hospital and the third occupant, McClenton's mother, was unharmed, police said.

Later, witnesses said someone in a small red car shot a woman sitting in the passenger seat of a truck traveling on the same road as the vehicle McClenton was in. The bullet struck the woman in the head and she later died at Truman Medical Center. The driver and another passenger were not hurt.
