(CBS/AP) SAN DIMAS, Calif. - Authorities say the diary of a Southern California teacher's aide reveals her sexual relationship with an underage student that fathered her child, police announced Thursday.

Sgt. Peter Hahn of the Los Angeles County sheriff's special victim's bureau says Mandy Morales, 31, was arrested at her home Wednesday after prosecutors filed charges for unlawful sex with a minor.

According to CBS Los Angeles, DNA tests confirm that the former student is the father of Morale's child, police said.

The former teacher's aide is free after posting $50,000 bail. Authorities didn't immediately know if she had an attorney.

Hahn says the victim was 16 when the sexual relationship began in 2011.

Officials at Canyon View School in San Dimas, a school that focuses on providing education to children with special needs, said Thursday that they no longer employ Morales and they're cooperating fully with investigators.

The station also reports the affair was uncovered in December after a school employee found Morales' diary with details about the relationship with the student. The student was 17 when the child was born.

According to authorities, the father of Morale's child is believed to be the only victim but acknowledge that there may be others, according to the station.
