Family members of Kira Steger-Trevino came from Wisconsin to help in the search for Mandy Matula. Steger's father, Jay Steger, says the family wants to "pay it forward" and help bring Matula home.

Steger-Trevino's body was pulled from the Mississippi River last week. Her husband Jeffery Trevino is in custody, charged with second degree murder in her death.

The 24-year-old Mandy Matula was last seen with her ex-boyfriend David Roe. When police asked Roe to come in for questioning, he shot himself in the head in the police parking lot. He later died.

Police have since determined he had Matula's blood on his jacket.

According to CBS Minnesota, volunteers searched four different areas around Victoria, Minn., including an area near Roe's home.

Eden Prairie police are coordinating with St. Louis and Stearns counties to search areas of the Mississippi River.

Steger reportedly said he is still struggling to cope with the death of his daughter and he's hoping Mandy's family will find closure.
