Man with stolen gun arrested at shooting victim's wake, say Decatur, Ga. cops
(CBS) DECATUR, Ga. - While at a wake on Tuesday for a shooting victim, Camenthia Antwan Dixon, 21, was arrested for allegedly bringing a stolen gun, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
Police said Dixon had the gun in his pocket.
Dixon was attending a wake for Carlos Henderson Jr., 19, gunned down at a shooting last week after a funeral, reported the Constitution. Also killed in that shooting was 28-year-old Delmetrius Heard. He and Dixon shot each other in the parking lot of Victory of the World Church.
District Attorney Robert James told local station WSB-TV that the stolen gun Dixon had was found to be from a June 2011 burglary of a police evidence storage facility.
Dixon is charged with theft by receiving stolen property and a slew of other misdemeanors, including reckless conduct, carrying a concealed weapon and obstruction.
The practice of storing evidence offsite began before James' term as district attorney and was stopped shortly after he was told of the break-in.
"Obviously I was concerned, even bothered, and I immediately stopped that process and we brought all the property back to where it should be, which is in a secure location in the courthouse," James told WSB-TV.
