Man who allegedly killed father, fled country, indicted

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. - A man who was arrested for allegedly killing his 70-year-old father on July 7, and then trying to flee the country was arraigned Friday morning. He pleaded not guilty to charges including second-degree murder, reports CBS affiliate WIVB.

Sean Keenan, 21, was charged with second degree murder in the death of John Keenan. He was picked up by authorities while reportedly attempting to use his father's ID to cross the border into Canada. Police believe the man shaved the front part of his head to look like his balding father.

Keenan initially got across the border, but was detained during a secondary inspection, reports the station.

Authorities say Sean Keenan injured a detective as he attempted to escape from custody at the Orchard Park Police Department.

Keenan is charged with second-degree murder, second degree assault, and first-degree attempted escape. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 32 years-to-life behind bars.
