Man charged after elderly woman beaten to death in SC motel
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- Myrtle Beach police have made an arrest in the weekend beating death of an 82-year-old woman.
Horry County Deputy Coroner Michelle McSpadden tells local media outlets Virginia Harris Eakers of the Myrtle Beach area was found dead Sunday in a room in a motel on the city's oceanfront Ocean Boulevard.
Myrtle Beach Police Lt. Joey Crosby says 68-year-old Rickey Waddell Wilson was arrested Monday and charged with murder.
In documents obtained by CBS affiliate WBTW, police allege that Wilson was with Eakers when she checked in to the motel two days before her body was discovered. Investigators say Wilson was the only person to visit Eakers during her stay at the motel.
A bond hearing is scheduled Tuesday. It was not immediately known if Wilson had an attorney.
According to an arrest affidavit, Wilson was with the victim at the time she checked into the motel last Friday.
