Man arrested, charged in Tenn. hair weave store shooting

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A man has been arrested charged in the murder of an employee at a hair weave store after an alleged accomplice was arrested and charged late last month, according to CBS affiliate WREG.

Louis Wakefield is reportedly charged with first-degree murder in the death Willie Abston. The shooting happened at a store called Bundles of Hair in early February, according to the station.

According to an affidavit obtained by the station, Wakefield allegedly admitted to taking part in the murder and driving himself and another man, Julius Russell, from the scene.

The two men, wearing ski masks and dressed in black, allegedly went into the store and shot Abston. Several cases of hair were also reportedly stolen.

The victim was later pronounced dead at the scene.

A witness to the shooting identified Russell as the suspect in a six-person photo lineup, reported WREG. Three days later, he was taken into custody.

He allegedly waived his Miranda rights and told officers it had been a robbery gone wrong.

Russell also allegedly told investigators he had planned the robbery and expected to make money from the stolen goods, according to the station. He was then charged with first-degree murder in the perpetration of a robbery and aggravated assault.
