Maliki Government Accused In Plot To Assassinate Chalabi

Asharq al Awsat:
A senior member of the Iraqi National Congress chaired by Ahmed Chalabi accused the government of al Nouri Maliki of standing behind the assassination attempt on Chalabi last Friday. Mohammed al Jizani told Asharq al Awsat newspaper that investigations revealed that the vehicle used in the attack was a government vehicle. Chalabi had escaped a suicide car bomb attack on his convoy in the high-security neighbourhood of Mansour in western Baghdad. He was not wounded, but the explosion killed six of his bodyguards.
