Make Cheap International Calls on Your Cell with Go-Sim
Overseas travel is expensive enough without spending a small fortune on phone calls. One way to save yourself -- or, heck, even your company -- some major coin is with the Go-Sim, a prepaid SIM card that works in over 140 countries. Just pop it into your phone and get free incoming calls (in over 50 countries) and incoming text messages (in all countries). As for outbound calls, you'll save upwards of 85%, the company promises.
The Go-Sim costs about $60 U.S., which includes $10 worth of starter airtime credit. When that runs out, you just buy more credit like you would with a prepaid phone. Granted, your phone will have a different number while using Go-Sim, but if you remember to set up call forwarding before swapping your old SIM card for the new one, calls to your original number should get through. This could be a truly killer solution for anyone who does a lot of international travel. Not wild about the idea of SIM-swapping? Check out David's recent post on the Cubic handset. [via Wired]
