Madonna-directed movie gets distributor

(CBS) The Weinstein Company announced that it has picked up Madonna's directorial debut, "W.E.," to be distributed some time in 2011.

Funny how this film is being touted as Madonna's directorial debut, but who could blame The Weinstein Company for ignoring "Filth and Wisdom"?

"W.E." tells the stories of two women, one in 1998 (Wally Winthrop, played by Abbie Cornish) and one in the past (Wallis Simpson). The film moves back and forth in time with Winthrop obsessed by the love story of Edward VIII and Simpson, the divorced American.

The romantic drama was written by Madonna and Alek Keshishian, who directed the 1991 documentary "Madonna: Truth or Dare" and the egregious 1994 comedy "With Honors."
