Louisiana man accused of killing wife, abducting three kids

METAIRIE, La. - Officials say a Metairie man killed his wife and fled the scene after abducting three of his children, according to reports.

Deputies told CBS affiliate WWL-TV in New Orleans that a manhunt is underway for 43-year-old Pedro Alberto Monterroso-Navas.

The manhunt began after authorities responded to a medical call at about 3:35 a.m. Sunday, WWL-TV reports. Two of the couple's children, a 5-year-old and an 8-year-old, had gone to a neighbor's house to tell them something was wrong with their mother.

The wife was found in a bathtub unconscious. The woman suffered from blunt force trauma to the head, officials told WWL. She was pronounced dead on the scene.

Jefferson County Sheriff Newell Normand told WWL Monterroso-Navas fled the scene with three of his children, including his daughter, 14-year-old Jessica Nicolle Monterroso, and two sons, 4-year-old Yojan Manuel Monterroso-Flores and 2-year-old Jafet Abigaitl Monterroso-Monroy.

The sheriff's office hasn't released any details of a possible getaway vehicle.

Officials say Monterroso-Navas was last seen wearing black pants and a blue shirt. He has a limp when he walks.

Officials have urged the public to call the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office at 504-364-5300 or 911 if they see Monterroso-Navas or his children.
