Losing GOP Candidate Watch

Former GOP Rep. Mark Green, who lost in his bid for Wisconsin governor last year, got a consolation prize from the White House today.

President Bush appointed Green to become the American ambassador to Tanzania.  Green is no stranger to Africa -- his father is from South Africa, and he spent a year in Kenya with his wife after college.

But, it's a far cry from being Wisconsin's chief executive or serving with the majority in Congress.

As the saying goes, "To the losers go the spoils."
