Sam Smith is out with the new James Bond song -- and it's already gaining traction, landing in the No. 1 spot on iTunes.
The British crooner unveiled the track, "Writing's On the Wall," Friday ahead of the premiere of "Spectre," which hits theaters on Nov. 6.
"If I risk it all, could you break my fall?" he sings.
It marks the first James Bond theme song recorded by a British male solo artist since 1965.
"This is one of the highlights of my career. I am honored to finally announce that I will be singing the next Bond theme song," Smith said in a statement following the song announcement. "I am so excited to be a part of this iconic British legacy and join an incredible line up of some of my biggest musical inspirations. I hope you all enjoy the song as much as I enjoyed making it."
