NEW YORK (CBS) Mel Gibson no longer has a "Hangover," but Liam Neeson now does.

The actor is now doing a cameo in "The Hangover 2" that was originally planned for Gibson, whose appearance in the film was canceled due to complaints from the cast and crew.

"I just got a call to do a one-day shoot on 'Hangover 2' as a tattooist in Thailand, and that's all I know about it," Neeson told Daily Variety. "I just laughed my leg off when I saw 'The Hangover,' I was shooting in Berlin earlier this year and rented it on the hotel TV."

According to People magazine, Neeson left his home in New York on Thursday for the "Hangover 2" set.

Gibson's appearance in the film was scrapped shortly after it was announced. Actor Zach Galifianakis, who helped steal the show in the original film, has reportedly been the most outspoken in his opposition to the cameo.

During a Comedy Death-Ray podcast, he said, "I'm in a deep protest right now with a movie I'm working on, up in arms about something." He did not mention Gibson or the movie by name.
