LeAnn Rimes defends weight on Twitter

(CBS) LeAnn Rimes showed off - and then defended - her bikini body on Twitter over the holiday weekend.

The singer posted photos of herself on Sunday posing in a blue swimsuit, which prompted a follower to send concerned messages about her weight.

On Sunday, the fan tweeted, "Whoa, you're scary skinny! Sorry don't mean to offend but that's a lot of bones showing through skin..."

Rimes replied, "those are called abs not bones love," adding, "This is my body and I can promise you I'm a healthy girl. I'm just lean. Thx for your concern but no need to be."

This isn't the first time the singer's body has been subject to scrutiny. Her appearance at the NCAA men's basketball championship game in April, where shesang the national anthem, renewed media speculation over her weight - the U.K.'s Daily Mail is one outlet that called the singer out for looking "more gaunt than ever" at the time.

According to reports, Rimes is currently on her honeymoon in Mexico with husband Eddie Cibrian.
