LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian tie the knot

(CBS) LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian are officially husband and wife.

The country singer and actor exchanged vows on Friday in front of about 40 guests who had been led to believe they were invited to an engagement party.

"LeAnn and Eddie were happily married today surrounded by their closest family and friends," the bride's spokesman, Rhett Usry, told People magazine. "They thank everyone for their well wishes."

Rimes, 28, and Cibrian, 37, married at a private home in California, according to the report. Guests included close friends and family such as Cibrian's sons Mason, 7, and Jake, 4, from his previous marriage to Brandi Glanville.

Rimes seemed ecstatic by her nuptials when she tweeted: "Eddie and I are overwhelmed by the amount of lovely well wishes. We are blessed and ... I'm Mrs. Cibrian!!!!! So wonderful to wake up as husband and wife. Love to all of you," on Saturday.

Rimes, 28, and Cibrian, 37, met while filming the TV movie "Northern Lights." Both were married to other people at the time. The pair announced their engagement in December.
