LBJ's Home Movies

CBS News Anchorman Dan Rather recently sat down with Lady Bird Johnson, the widow of the 36th President of the United States, Lyndon Baines Johnson. In the first of a two-part interview on the CBS Evening News, the former first lady shared her personal memories as well as a most unusual visual archive.

Today, Lady Bird Johnson is talking as she rarely has before about her life, public and private, with the man who was president during one of the most turbulent times of this century. At 85, she has outlived her husband, outlasted his critics, and long ago, come into her own. "You know, this is sort of harvest time...if you're not gonna relax and have fun, then when?"

With a camera Lyndon Johnson gave her in 1938, Mrs. Johnson recorded the memories of an America in that kinder, gentler age.
