Last to see Lauren Spierer on night of disappearance denies lack of cooperation
(CBS/WISH) BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - 20-year-old Jason "Jay" Rosenbaum, who was reportedly the last person to see fellow Indiana University student Lauren Spierer before she went missing, is denying any suggestion that he has not fully cooperated in the investigation into her disappearance.
His statement Monday came after media criticism of Rosenbaum's decision to hire a lawyer and reluctance to speak to reporters.
A Monday article in The New York Post said about Rosenbaum, "His silence is deafening." The Post article also points out that Rosenbaum has "hired a high-profile criminal defense lawyer," James Voyles.Rosenbaum's attorneys told CBS affiliate WISH-TV that he provided full statements to police and even passed a polygraph test that was then turned over to investigators.
WISH reports that Rosenbaum's statement concluded by saying he and his attorneys did not wish to comment any further about the investigation saying, "In the interest of protecting the investigation, he desires to not provide any additional statement or comment to the press, directly or through counsel."
Lauren Spierer was last seen on June 3 walking back to her Bloomington apartment barefoot after a night out with friends. She wearing a white tank top with a loose light-colored shirt over it and black full-length stretch pants. She is described as a white woman, with longer than shoulder length blonde hair, blue eyes, and a slender build. She is 4-feet-11-inches tall.
