Larson Securing Support For Caucus Chairman

Connecticut Rep. John B. Larson has secured the support of more than 100 colleagues in his bid to become the next chairman of the Democratic Caucus, according to a senior aide to the congressman.

This pledged support comes hours after the current job holder, Illinois Rep. Rahm Emanuel, notified colleagues that he was taking the top job at the White House. If the numbers are right — members have a way of hedging their verbal commitments in these races — Larson is well on his way to the 130 or so votes he would need to secure the post in a secret, internal election.
