NEW YORK (CBS) Lady Gaga has 13 new things to celebrate.
The singer earned that many nominations for this year's MTV Video Music Awards - the most ever earned by any artist in a single year.
"I'm so honored for all the little monsters and self-professed freaks of the universe, to have more VMA nominations in a single year than any artist in MTV history," she said in a statement. "Ironically, I'm even more proud it's an unlucky number: 13."
She continued, "A long time ago, the world told me and my little monsters we would never be heard. Together we changed the rules. God put me on Earth for three reasons: to make loud music, gay videos and cause a damn raucous. Thank you, MTV!"
The singer is represented in categories including Best Pop Video, Best Female Video and Best Dance Music Video for her song "Bad Romance." She's also nominated for Video of the Year for both "Bad Romance" and "Telephone," her collaboration with Beyonce, and is the first artist two have two videos in contention for the award show's top honor.
She is also competing against herself in the Best Female Video category - "Bad Romance" and "Telephone" are both nominated.
The other nominees for Video of the Year are Eminem ("Not Afraid"), Florence and the Machine ("Dog Days are Over"), 30 Seconds to Mars ("Kings and Queens") and B.o.B featuring Hayley Williams ("Airplanes").
Other artists who received nominations include Katy Perry, Ke$ha, Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj.
The MTV Video Music Awards will air live on Sept. 12 at 9 p.m. EST.
