Police said the 21-year-old was outside a restaurant near campus along Apache Boulevard when a heavy-set man in a newer model silver Chrysler 300 attempted to steal her purse.

Police said Sousa became entangled in the purse's strap and was dragged by the car for several feet before her head hit the pavement.
