Kukoc To Stay With Sixers

Toni Kukoc, acquired by Philadelphia from Chicago in February to add offensive power, agreed to terms with the 76ers Wednesday.

Kukoc and guard Jermaine Jackson, a free agent from the Detroit Pistons, were expected to sign contracts Thursday.

Kukoc was acquired from the Bulls in a three-way deal as a scorer to complement star guard Allen Iverson. A seven-year NBA veteran, Kukoc won three championships with Chicago and was chosen the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year in 1995-96. He has averaged 13.9 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.1 steals in 468 games.

With Philadelphia, Kukoc averaged 12.4 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.4 assists over the final 32 games of the season, but he didn't look comfortable.

Kukoc blamed the problems on unfamiliarity, saying he would benefit from training camp and playing a full season with the Sixers.

Jackson played in seven games during his rookie season with the Pistons, averaging 1 point and 1.6 rebounds per game.
