Krall At The Keyboard

Because of her meteoric rise and expressive voice, reports CBS This Morning Co-Anchor Mark McEwen, many critics have compared Diana Krall to such jazz greats as Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday.

"It embarrasses me," says Krall. "I mean, it's great that people like my music. But I am just being Diana Krall, honoring the people that worked probably harder than I did at a time where it was probably more difficult."

Krall continues to honor them with her latest album, When I Look in Your Eyes. As part of her continued musical growth, she is backed by a lush string section for some of the album's tracks.

"I do not want to do cookie-cutter records," explains Krall. "I would like to do different projects. I have different projects in mind. But it is important to grow, of course, with every CD."

Krall recently collaborated with Clint Eastwood on a song he wrote for his upcoming movie, True Crimes. Eastwood directed the music video, a first for the big-time jazz fan.

"He would take me aside, and he knew when I was singing the wrong note, and he corrected me, and he directed me on the phrasing," says Krall. "It was great. Real exciting. I still can't believe I had the chance to do that."
