King of Fighters XII
Fatal Fury was one of my all time favorite fighting games, next to Street Fighter 2 (turbo edition). I wasn't the hugest of SNK fans but I definitely formed an appreciation for some of their games on the NEO GEO. Remember that system? It came out in the early 90's as one of the first 24bit multiprocessor system on the market despite the fact that it could actually process up to 32-bit. It was honestly far too expensive for my little weekly allowance to afford so I had to settle with playing at a friends house until it was later released on multiple platforms including the Sega Saturn.
I then grew further fond of SNK when they released the first in what would become a great franchise in the King of Fighters. All of my favorite characters where back including the bothers (Terry and Andy Bogard) along with some really cool and edgy fighters.
Over ten years later SNK is set to release its twelfth edition to the King of Fighters (KOF) franchise. This latest edition features a complete graphical overhaul featuring 22 high-definition 2D characters straight from their historical archives. This "T" for Teen rated fighting game continues the cool epic martial arts showdown of 3-on-3 fighting.
This game is set to be released worldwide in July but if you just can't wait that long and you happen to be in the LA area this Saturday May 30th, you might just get your shot at playing the game early.
As the video game industry descends upon the City of Angels for E3, Ignition Entertainment, SNK PLAYMORE, Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) and the EVO Championship Series host the must-attend ultimate fighting game tournament - THE KING OF FIGHTERS XII international championship tournament.
128 players will gather at 1642 Las Palmas Ave, in Hollywood California to battle in a single-elimination, five-round tournament, for the grand prize of a limited edition THE KING OF FIGHTERS XII (KOFXII) arcade cabinet imported from Japan.
--Wicked Cool--
Since the franchise is celebrating its 15th Anniversary with the release of KOFXII, SNK has spared no expense when it comes to providing the festivities, complimentary food and drink to keep your energy levels up for those big battles. They'll also have exclusive raffles for premium gift bags packed with PS3 and KOF merchandise, not to mention a KOF cos-play costume contest. There will be special guests and surprises but you'll have to wait to find out.
I'm looking forward to checking this game out in July and keep your eyes locked on GameCore for updates on this title.
