Sen. Ted Kennedy has been taken to a Cape Cod hospital.
Local police tell the Associated Press that they received a 911 call from the Kennedy compound in Hyannis Port at 5 p.m. today. The AP says Kennedy was taken by ambulance to the hospital, and that he was "alert and responsive" during the trip.
Kennedy, 76, was diagnosed with a brain tumor earlier this year. The Boston Globe is also carrying the story, but has few new details about Kennedy's condition.
The Massachusetts senator spoke last month at the Democratic National Convention, vowing that he would return to the Senate in January to work with the new president.
