(CBS/AP) Keith Urban will undergo throat surgery at the end of the month to remove a polyp on his vocal chord.

"The surgery, an out-patient procedure, while minor, will require complete voice rest followed by an undetermined period of recuperation," according to a statement posted on the country singer's website.

The mandatory vocal rest has caused Urban to postpone his "All For The Hall" concert to benefit the Country Music Hall of Fame on Jan. 18. Urban, 44, will also have to reschedule any other performances that require him to sing more than one song.

He's still scheduled to perform at the Country Music Association Awards on Nov. 9 where he's nominated for CMA entertainer and male vocalist of the year.

Urban wed Nicole Kidman in 2006. They have two daughters, Sunday Rose, 3, and Faith Margaret, who is 11 months old.
