(CBS/AP) HONOLULU - The 21-year-old Hawaii woman who said she found a newborn baby on the beach early Monday was arrested a day later when police say they determined she was, in fact, the infant's mother.

Keala Simeona had told authorities that she found the baby crying on Sandy Beach in east Honolulu after hearing several people screaming. She said she grabbed the newborn and took her to the hospital.

A state Department of Human Services official said Monday that the full-term, 8-pound baby was born soon before she was found. According to CBS affiliate KGMB, a family court will determine if parental rights will be terminated.

Simeona was arrested for filing a false police report. She was released on a $250 bail. The station reports a first court hearing will be held next Monday.
