NEW YORK (CBS) Is Katie Couric the next contestant on "Dancing With The Stars"?

Don't look  for the CBS Evening News anchor on the dance show, despite the newswoman's  joking remarks  on a red carpet that set the  blogosphere buzzing.

"My secret fantasy, sadly, is to be on Dancing With the Stars," Couric jokingly said to Us Magazine on the red carpet for  its "25 Most Stylish New Yorkers" fete this weekend.

"But I don't know, those skimpy outfits!" added the newswoman, who graced the black carpet in a golden Carmen Marc Valvo dress and Stuart Weitzman shoes.

Celebrity Circuit spoke with a Couric's rep who told us emphatically that the 53-year-old anchor is not set to join the series. "She was joking around with a reporter that if the world was different, she would go on 'DWTS.' She was having fun with it and it is NOT something she has any plans to do."

Maybe in another universe, news fans.
