NEW YORK (CBS) The chances of Katherine Heigl reprising her role as Izzie Stevens on "Grey's Anatomy" are highly unlikely, as the actress has confirmed she has no plans on returning to the hit ABC show.

While walking the red carpet at the New York premiere of her new flick, "Life As We Know It," which costars Josh Duhamel and opens Oct. 8, Heigel told MTV News that her days at Seattle Grace Hospital are officially behind her.

"That chapter is closed," she said. "It's sad and it's hard."

"I can't think of any way that she [Izzie] could come back gracefully that wouldn't just feel manipulative," Heigl explained. "And, it's hard, because I really wonder what she's doing and where she is and what happened, but that is over for me now."

When Heigl announced she was leaving the series earlier this year, some speculated if it was because she wanted to advance her movie career.

However, she told Entertainment Weekly in March that the reason behind her depature was solely because she wanted to spend more time with her family and newly adopted daughter, Naleigh.

"I started a family and it changed everything for me," Heigl said. "It changed my desire to work full-time."
